Overview:

As a Skilled Laborer at MasTec Inc., you will play a vital role in assisting craft workers with physical labor on jobsites. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient construction site while supporting the overall project.

Responsibilities:

* Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
* Complete all required Safety documentation
* Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push, and pull
* Level earth to fine grade specifications using a shovel or other hand tool
* Mix concrete or grout using a portable mixer
* Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using a float, trowel, or screed
* Position, join, align, and connect pumps, motors, and other mechanical or metal parts
* Mop, brush, or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection
* Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through a hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces
* Apply caulking compounds by hand or with a caulking gun to seal crevices
* Grind, sand, or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or machines
* Perform tasks involving the use of hands and tools such as torqueing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc.
* Provide assistance on the site as needed
* Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools
* Perform physical labor on construction sites
* May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice

Qualifications:

* Education and Work Experience Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and six to twelve months of related experience in construction
* Or equivalent combination of training and experience
* Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
* Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
* Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
* Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement, and volume
* Ability to understand units of force, pressure, and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each
* Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
* Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
