Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team at Northern California Behavioral Health System. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care to individuals with emotional or psychiatric disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Treatment Planning: Participate in treatment planning by identifying patients' problems, needs, and strengths, and suggesting modifications to treatment plans based on observations of patients' behavior.
  • Patient Care: Implement patients' treatment plans by monitoring patients' progress, communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of the treatment team, and maintaining communication with patients, family members, and referral sources.
  • Hall Monitor: Ensure the safety and security of both staff and patients by observing interactions between patients and staff, and reporting suspicious activity to the appropriate nurse in charge of the unit.
  • Patient Attendant: Accompany and transport patients as assigned, orient new patients to the unit, program, and milieu, and assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Patient Records: Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation, and carry out clerical and administrative assignments to support patient care and department operations.
Requirements
  • Education/Licensure: High school diploma or equivalent required, with current CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology, human behavior principles, and basic knowledge of human growth and development.
  • Skills and Abilities: Maintain confidentiality of patients, sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
