The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental hygiene, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care and education. You will be responsible for conducting dental prophylaxis, performing oral cancer screenings, and charting conditions of decay and disease.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, and draping them
- Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments
- Properly capture digital radiographs that are diagnostic and properly labeled
- Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins
- Detect disease by completing oral cancer screenings, feeling and visually examining gums, and using probes to locate periodontal disease and assess levels of recession
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting orders
- Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical, and dental histories and charting in patient records
- Complete med consults as directed by the dentist and follow set clinic policies
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Education: Associate degree in Dental Hygiene (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years preferred (but open to recent grads)
- Expertise: Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques/CPR
