Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist is accountable for evaluating, treating, and managing patients with respiratory conditions. This role encompasses the oversight of all respiratory care procedures, including the management of respiratory therapy staff. Responsibilities include initiating therapeutic interventions, maintaining comprehensive patient documentation, and ensuring the proper functioning of respiratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain required professional licensure.
- Perform clinical tasks and provide support during peak patient demand or high acuity situations.
- Conduct monthly assessments of bulk oxygen supply levels.
- Inspect oxygen tank capacity and storage quarterly in emergency and acute care settings.
- Follow up with patients post-sleep study, ensuring timely communication of results.
- Coordinate the sleep lab services with external providers and equipment suppliers.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient-centered care, participating in discharge rounds regularly.
- Provide educational resources to staff regarding infrequently utilized equipment.
- Achieve patient satisfaction scores that meet or exceed the 50th percentile.
- Monitor and report on quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the annual budget preparation process.
- Ensure all departmental policies are reviewed annually.
- Complete assigned educational modules as required.
Qualifications
- Licensure as a Respiratory Technologist (RT) in Minnesota; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) designation preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Certification as a Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare environment with proven leadership skills.
