About Our Retail Team

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Sales Associate/Material Handler to join our dedicated retail team at The Salvation Army Boulder Thrift Store. This is an excellent opportunity to promote a positive shopping/donor experience, enhance customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while contributing to the success of our Program and its participants.

Job Description
  • Ensure all customers and donors' needs are met by providing genuine greetings and prompt, courteous assistance.
  • Stock priced items ready to be merchandised on the sales floor.
  • Assist in maintaining the store and donation area, keeping it clean, neat, and organized. Perform cleaning duties as assigned by Management.
  • Follow all POS/Cash Register Policies in accordance with TSA Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain safety and compliance standards.
  • Attend required monthly store meetings.
  • Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide Quality Assurance by inspecting products for defects and damages.
  • Courteously assist the donor in removing donated items from their vehicle and provide a receipt.
  • Separate and sort donated materials into proper containers and stack them as instructed by Management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Able to accurately handle POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
  • Pass a background check, including a Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks, and carts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
  • Able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
