Position Overview: The Chief Executive Officer is the principal staff officer responsible for the comprehensive administration and operational management of the organization.

This role involves advising and collaborating with the Etherio Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategies, objectives, and policies that support the advancement of the organization's mission.

You will lead a dedicated team, leveraging cross-functional centers of excellence to meet the organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the overall operations of the association, including governance, tax compliance, legal obligations, budget management, strategic planning, and execution of business plans.
  • Effectively manage personnel resources to ensure adherence to contracted service scopes.
  • Guide and mentor assigned staff, providing constructive feedback, performance reviews, work direction, delegation, and motivation.
  • Report on critical metrics, including financial performance, membership growth, sponsorship, and engagement levels.
  • Organize, prepare for, and facilitate Executive and Board of Trustees meetings.

Ensure that the organization and its mission, programs, products, and services are consistently represented with a strong, positive image to stakeholders and the public.

Oversee the design, branding, marketing, promotion, delivery, and quality assurance of programs, products, and services.

Manage membership marketing, services, and benefits to enhance member and partner experiences.

Assist in developing and executing strategies for programs, products, and services.

Drive sponsorship sales to meet budgeted revenue targets.

Monitor evolving conditions in the profession to enable Etherio to lead in developing and communicating relevant programs and resources.

Maintain strategic partnerships and represent Etherio at national events and conferences. Act as a liaison to relevant boards.

Lead the development and submission of grant proposals, prepare and organize submission materials, and oversee grant execution.

Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for grants and government contracts.

Coordinate volunteers and the management team to oversee all aspects of the organization's annual conference, webinars, e-learning initiatives, and other events.

Collaborate with the management team to support committee chairs in setting and achieving their goals. Assist volunteers in their roles and coordinate succession planning across all levels.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree and/or Certified Association Executive (CAE) highly preferred.
  • Five or more years of association management experience preferred.
  • Five or more years of medical or dental experience highly preferred.
  • Strong strategic planning skills, including program development and project leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated curiosity for the association's mission.
  • Strategic thinker, open to new ideas and opportunities, with a proven ability to drive results.
  • Hands-on budget management skills, including preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Experience in marketing to retain and attract new members in non-profit organizations.
  • Fundraising and grant management experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and networking abilities.
  • Familiarity with association management software preferred.

Work Environment: This position operates in a hybrid work environment, combining remote and in-office presence, with potential onsite engagements at client and event locations.

Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Scheduling Flexibility: While the role typically follows standard business hours, some flexibility is required, including the potential for evening and weekend work to meet client, event, or organizational needs during peak periods.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while also being able to stand and move during onsite events. Ability to lift, carry, push, or drag items up to 30 lbs. Frequent movement within the office to access files and equipment. Adaptability to various physical settings, including conference centers and outdoor spaces. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be required. Frequent use of hands for handling objects, tools, and computers. Effective communication with others is essential, as is the ability to operate electronic equipment. The noise level in the office is generally low to moderate, while event environments may vary from moderate to noisy.
