Job Summary

Advocates is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Service Worker to join our team. As a Direct Service Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and role modeling to program residents, promoting independence and goal achievement.
  • Assist with medication management, financial tasks, and community integration efforts.
  • Document progress towards treatment goals and communicate effectively with the treatment team.
  • Participate in treatment meetings, including weekly staff meetings, and contribute to the development of treatment plans.
  • Perform interventions with clients to address identified goals and promote skill development.
  • Link clients with other program staff and service providers to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Monitor and document medication administration, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for clients.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and home-like environment for clients, adhering to divisional expectations.
  • Remain alert and attentive throughout scheduled work shifts, prioritizing client safety and well-being.
  • Complete all paperwork, reports, and trainings in a timely manner, meeting divisional expectations.
  • Attend and actively participate in core training and maintain certification of required trainings (CPR/First Aid, Crisis Management, MAP).
  • Provide crisis intervention and access emergency services as needed, prioritizing client safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with one year of related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, judgment, and coaching skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer applications.
  • Desire to thrive in a fast-paced, client-centered, team-oriented environment.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to an operational and insured vehicle, and be willing to use it to transport clients.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
