Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join our team at Intellectt Inc. in North Haven, CT. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and validating automation systems to ensure efficient and compliant operations in a medical device manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs for automation systems used in manufacturing processes.
  • Integrate and configure Cognex Vision Systems for quality inspection, defect detection, and process control in a regulated environment.
  • Design, develop, and execute IQ, OQ, PQ protocols for automation systems and equipment to ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Production, and Engineering, to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Perform risk assessments, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Hazard Analysis to ensure safe and efficient system operations.
  • Provide technical support for the installation, calibration, and validation of automated equipment.
  • Maintain and update automation documentation, including software design specifications, validation protocols, and user manuals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.
  • Train and mentor production and maintenance personnel on automated systems and ensure proper operation and maintenance.
  • Stay current with new automation technologies, tools, and best practices relevant to medical device manufacturing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience with Cognex Vision Systems, including setup, programming, and validation.
  • Strong understanding of IQ, OQ, PQ processes and regulatory requirements for the medical device industry.
  • Hands-on experience with GMP, FDA, and ISO standards related to medical device manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in using automation software tools such as RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, and VisionPro.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and data acquisition software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
