Senior Operations Manager Job Description

ASM Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Greater Columbus Convention Center. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of event management, facility operations, and team management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for Operations Coordinators and staff.
  • Coordinate work plans and staffing for event support, ensuring operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training and safety programs for all Operations employees.
  • Lead daily facility operations planning meetings with Operations Coordinators and conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Manage recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of Operations staff.
  • Oversee requisitioning supplies, maintain equipment and supply inventory controls, and manage shortages effectively.
  • Ensure operational oversight and responsibility for GCCC Waste Management, including monthly diversion reports, vendor relations, and employee/vendor training.
  • Review event documents for operational issues and recommend solutions.
  • Provide operational event support at weekly production meetings, pre-conferences, and site visits to ensure seamless execution.
  • Assist in overseeing activities of vendors, subcontractors, and municipal services.
  • Submit recommendations for operating, capital maintenance, and capital equipment budgets.
  • Develop and monitor equipment preventative and corrective maintenance programs in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with department Managers, Coordinators, and Supervisors to coordinate activities and ensure seamless operations across departments.
  • Process payroll, complete labor allocations, and manage labor expenses efficiently.
  • Conduct regular reviews of Operations Coordinators and staff members.
  • Establish and maintain sub-department rules of conduct.
  • Ensure all work is completed on time and meets established standards of quality.
Qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of event conversion, housekeeping procedures, and facility management practices within a public assembly or commercial facility.
  • Minimum of five years in a senior supervisory or facility management leadership role, demonstrating proficiency in managing multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and logistical skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively.
