Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit team at South Peninsula Hospital. As a critical care nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to critically ill patients, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Monitor and manage patient vital signs, administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
  • Support and role-model South Peninsula Hospital's values and behaviors, promoting a culture of safety, respect, and compassion.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alaska.
  • At least one year of experience in the ICU specialty.
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
Work Environment

South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed critical access hospital and 28-bed long-term care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The ICU team works in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong critical thinking and communication skills. The position requires walking, standing for extended periods, and the ability to lift 50 pounds. A mechanical lift is available for lifting patients when needed.
