Position Overview:
The Critical Care Response Nurse (CCRN) will be instrumental in developing, executing, and assessing strategies aimed at enhancing nursing care and patient management. This role is vital in improving patient outcomes, minimizing non-ICU medical emergencies, and reducing the need for ICU transfers.

Key Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing immediate emergency care to patients and ensuring their stability or safe transfer to a higher level of care in conjunction with the Critical Care Response Team.
  • Contributing to the Critical Response and Resuscitation Committee by analyzing data, reviewing clinical cases, and presenting findings during regular meetings.
  • Leading initiatives for process enhancements and supporting educational training for clinical staff based on insights gained from patient assessments and quality reviews.

Job Duties:
As a Critical Care Response Nurse, you will:

  • Establish processes for identifying patients in need of critical evaluation and intervention.
  • Implement action plans based on data analysis and case reviews.
  • Participate as a member or leader of the Critical Response and Resuscitation Committee, documenting cases and presenting findings.
  • Stay updated with evidence-based practices and recommend standards in collaboration with the team.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide education and training to nursing staff regarding emergency response protocols.
  • Collaborate with nursing professional development to conduct mock codes and simulations.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff, providers, patients, and families.
  • Conduct rounds on inpatient units to address acute patient issues and provide real-time coaching and support.
  • Respond to rapid response and code blue calls, delivering critical care until the patient is stable or transferred.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • National certification in critical care nursing.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of nursing experience in a complex critical care environment is required.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires a full range of motion, including lifting and handling patients, as well as the ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adherence to Standard Precautions and the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
