As a key member of the University of Central Florida's Facilities and Business Operations team, the Electrical Engineer II plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the university's electrical systems. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced electrical engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for all facilities projects involving electrical systems generation, distribution, and components.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the University's facility condition assessment (FCA) program and capital renewal portfolio by conducting detailed building walk-downs to assess and evaluate electrical equipment and distribution systems.
  • Perform highly technical design reviews of electrical drawings and specifications for construction and operational projects, including building code and UCF Construction Standards reviews.
  • Conduct construction reviews of electrical equipment and distribution systems for compliance, as requested by department leadership and project managers.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to solve complex technical issues discovered during site inspections and site evaluations.
  • Collaborate with facilities leadership staff and trades shops on reviews of campus electrical systems and distribution to improve system safety, functionality, and energy efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve electrical distribution and generating systems for reliability, feasibility, and overall system performance.
  • Prepare project specifications, field inspection reports, and comprehensive engineering reports.
  • Support and troubleshoot existing electrical distribution and generating systems for operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on facilities and business operations.
  • Licensed in a state of the United States as a Professional Engineer.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Florida as a Professional Engineer within one year of hire.
