Position Overview

JOB SUMMARY

The Cardiovascular Sonographer I is responsible for conducting diagnostic cardiovascular assessments as per physician directives and departmental guidelines. This role involves generating initial reports for physician review and ensuring accurate electronic documentation and billing for procedures performed. The sonographer collaborates with various healthcare professionals to guarantee safe and effective patient care while engaging positively with patients and their families, all while upholding professional standards.

Adherence to departmental protocols for communication with Cardiologists and referring physicians regarding critical findings is essential. The position requires close collaboration with team leaders and managers to discuss significant clinical findings, workflow status, and any equipment issues. The sonographer often operates independently and must exhibit outstanding work ethics and integrity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma

Minimum Work Experience

  • At least 1 year of practical training or graduation from an accredited ultrasound program.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Registered in Adult Cardiac or Vascular Sonography by ARDMS or CCI.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Expertise in performing all cardiac or vascular ultrasound procedures available in Non-Invasive Cardiology.
  • Proficient in operating all relevant equipment, including ultrasound systems, PVR, BP monitors, and computer systems.
  • Commitment to attending required training sessions, staff meetings, and completing necessary online learning modules.
  • Willingness to be available for on-call duties as scheduled, including after hours, weekends, and holidays.
