Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantitative Energy Analytics Consultant to join our team in Denver. As a key member of our Global Energy and Utilities team, you will play a critical role in helping our clients navigate the rapidly evolving energy landscape.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with a strong background in energy and quantitative analysis to join our team. You will be responsible for leading or contributing to quantitative analysis and model development, identifying and executing creative approaches to evaluating energy infrastructure benefits and costs, and developing new models and tools to support a long-term view of energy market evolution.

Responsibilities
  • Lead or contribute to quantitative analysis and model development for energy infrastructure investment, expert witness testimony, market and regulatory proceedings, benefits case assessments, whitepaper development, stakeholder engagement, business model development, and business integration.
  • Identify and execute creative approaches to quantitatively evaluating energy infrastructure benefits and costs, as well as risks and risk mitigation.
  • Independently initiate and complete analysis surrounding optimization in competitive markets, stochastic simulations, and the interplay between zero- or low-marginal cost resources and traditional energy generators.
  • Lead quantitative research tasks related to energy, ancillary services, and capacity markets.
  • Develop new models and tools that support a long-term view of energy market evolution, especially in light of clean energy policies.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, economics, engineering, mathematics/statistics. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, R, C#, Julia, and experience with object-oriented programming and cloud-based computing services.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics and/or advanced statistical analysis as related to energy infrastructure or markets.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience related to energy market analysis, fundamentals research, and experience supporting trading/marketing/origination.
  • Experience with Production Cost Modeling (Aurora, PLEXOS, GE MAPs, etc.) is a plus.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage 5-10 projects concurrently and adjust to shifting deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
