Medical Laboratory Scientist Expert

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Geisinger Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing and reporting various analyses from multiple specimen sources, providing the highest level of patient care, and maximizing patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an expected level of productivity and manage multiple work processes efficiently.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner, handle specimens properly, and confirm identification and specimen suitability.
- Use appropriate accessioning procedures, recognize discrepancies on patient orders, and resolve and report problems and solutions as appropriate.
- Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control, replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols, and follow established reporting procedures.
- Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality, assist in the training and orientation of new employees, and participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams is required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university and successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology program or equivalent.
- At least four years' experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, with ASCP categorical certification preferred but not required.
- Ability to work 3PM to 11:30PM and qualify for shift differential as well as off-shift retention monies.
- Eligibility for overtime.
