The Manager for Issuing VAS - Solutions Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in assisting prospective clients to comprehend, evaluate, and differentiate the available solutions, ensuring that these solutions are effectively implemented following the purchasing decision. This position collaborates closely with the sales team and initiates engineering processes once a foundational relationship has been established, guaranteeing that both the client and their technical team grasp all technical details and implications of the deployment.

This role is integral to the broader Value-Added Services Sales function, with a primary focus on selling services related to payments and account-to-account transactions in the market, with potential expansion into additional products and services over time. Internally, this position necessitates collaboration with a diverse array of cross-functional teams, including but not limited to Generalist Sellers, Sales Operations, Product, Strategy, Client Services, Digital Partners, and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Issuing VAS solutions.
  2. Facilitate solution design discussions and conduct in-depth workshops with clients to accurately define tailored solutions.
  3. Lead large-scale direct bank and reseller projects.
  4. Assist with RFI/RFP submissions, providing well-crafted and thoughtful responses to client inquiries.
  5. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth client transitions, engaging with and influencing all organizational levels, including senior executives.
  6. Identify potential implementation issues and coordinate resolutions by collaborating with necessary stakeholders.
  7. Ensure timely and accurate completion of Solution Design Guides.
  8. Support the creation and management of internal documentation.
  9. Reinforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) both internally and externally.
  10. Verify that clients meet the requirements to support the solution and clarify expectations for the implementation phase.
  11. Effectively manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.
  12. Engage with downstream payment service providers, card networks, and other third parties during implementation.
  13. Adopt a solution-oriented approach and continuously seek ways to enhance customer experience.
  14. Provide market insights and updates to the Product organization to refine solutions and share best practices.
  15. Foster teamwork while promoting a culture of openness and adaptability.

Essential Functions

  1. Accountable for driving and achieving the Payments and Account-to-Account Solutions, potentially including other Issuer Value-Added Services over time, through collaboration with Account Executives and Account Managers to acquire new customers or upsell existing clients.
  2. Acquire new clients and retain/grow existing clients in partnership with market product teams.
  3. Understand complex client challenges and leverage Visa technology to deliver effective solutions.
  4. Champion Visa's value-based sales methodology, ensuring client outcomes and Visa revenue realization through post-sale commercialization and mutual success planning.
  5. Collaborate with the sales team to develop proposals, presentations, and other sales materials that showcase our solutions' technical capabilities and advantages.
  6. Engage with internal cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Product Development, Client Support, and Product Marketing, to relay market feedback and contribute to the design of new solutions.
  7. Identify, qualify, and quantify market-specific opportunities in close cooperation with local relationship management and product teams.

This position operates in a hybrid model, allowing employees to alternate between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office a set number of days each week, as determined by leadership, with a general expectation of being in the office at least 50% of the time based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. 6 or more years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree, or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
  2. Demonstrated experience in team and project leadership.
  3. Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to influence high-ranking international clients.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of the payments landscape, including key entities, competitive dynamics, and industry trends.
  5. Proficient language skills for negotiation, conversation, and presentation in both French and English.
  6. Able to work independently while also being an active team player.
  7. Technical proficiency with the ability to comprehend complex technology solutions and market challenges.
  8. In-depth knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including risks, customer engagement, payment security, processing, and compliance mandates.
  9. A natural ability to simplify and effectively communicate intricate ideas.
  10. Confident in engaging with both high-level executives and technical experts.
  11. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  12. Cultural awareness and strong interpersonal relationship management skills.
  13. Ability to articulate complex systems clearly to business units and provide technical details to IT groups.
  14. Proactive in understanding client needs to tailor implementations accordingly.
  15. Anticipates client preferences and customizes presentations and demonstrations to align with them.
  16. Foresees stakeholder objections and prepares strategic plans to mitigate their impact.
