Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

Contentnea Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities- Pharmacy Operations
- Process patient prescriptions and manage daily pharmacy operations.
- Interpret, pack, label, and dispense prescriptions; administer and distribute drugs.
- Assist patients at prescription drop-off and pick-up areas and disburse completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients.
- Assist with staff training.
- Ensure all payments, including cash, check, and credit card, are reconciled and submitted to the finance department.
- Coordinate maintenance of pharmacy environment, including cleanliness and neatness.
- Facilitate collaboration with healthcare teams to enhance patient care.
- Provide education on 340B pharmacy services.
- Represent the pharmacy in meetings when needed.
- Collaborate with practitioners to provide consults on drug information and patient education.
- Assist practitioners in assessing patient information for the correct medication orders in consideration of patient's health status.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in internal in-service meetings and continuing education programs.
- Provide updates, training, and recommendations to clinicians during practitioner meetings.
- Assist with the purchase of all drugs, supplies, and pharmaceuticals used in the pharmacy.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders and vendors.
- Maintain current knowledge of and participate in inventory processes, including ordering, inventory returns, restocking shelves with proper rotation of items, and managing outdated medications.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for pharmacy practice and operations, (i.e., 340B program, NC Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency, Medicaid, etc.).
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy policies and procedures and knowledge of changes in laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Participate in quality metrics directives and departmental quality improvement (QI) projects.
- Read and respond to emails and other communication platforms within the organization.
- Comply with Clinical Quality Measures expectations.
- Use resources to verify standards of care.
- Modify workflows as determined by department to attain QI objectives.
- Consistently document activities related to QI projects.
- Provide management to department staff in the absence of the pharmacy manager.
- Determine the most effective method for assigning responsibilities and duties to department employees.
- Assign duties and responsibilities, and ensure employees receive instruction/training needed to complete their job responsibilities.
- Ensure that employees are aware of and adhere to all company policies and procedures and convey all senior management communications and directives.
- Review departmental work for thoroughness and accuracy and provide specific instructions to supervisors and employees on completion of tasks/responsibilities.
Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy. Current licensure as a Pharmacist in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current BLS certification.
Possesses knowledge of the 340B program, state, federal, and third-party regulations relating to pharmacy operations.
