Compensation and Benefits Specialist

Job Summary: The South Shore Staffing company is seeking a highly skilled Benefits Assistant to provide administrative support to the Benefits Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless operations in the department.
About the Role: This permanent opportunity is available full-time or part-time at our Braintree office. If you have a strong background in benefits administration and excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reporting and Follow-up: Review daily reports and follow up on open items as needed to maintain efficient department operations.
- System Support: Serve as backup assistance with employee and administrator access to payroll and benefit enrollment systems.
- Customer Service: Respond to inbound telephone calls and emails, redirecting them to the appropriate team member as necessary.
- Data Management: File records in various files for active employees, retirees, etc., and assist with data entry and data scrubs.
- Continuation of Coverage: Assist with continuation of coverage process for health and dental plans.
- Termination Data: Monitor and document employee termination data.
- Audit and Updates: Audit supplemental life, vision, and FSA enrollments and deductions, updating records based on information from Human Resources.
- Wellness Events: Provide administrative assistance with planning health fairs, vaccine clinics, and on-site wellness events.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred but not required; relevant work experience considered in lieu of college degree.
- Experience: One to two years of experience in a Human Resources and/or Benefits and/or Communications function preferred.
- Skills: Strong Microsoft skills, particularly in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with graphic design, website maintenance, and webinar programs a plus.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of payroll and benefits software a plus, as well as knowledge of HIPAA compliance.
- Personal Qualities: Ability to prioritize, work efficiently, complete tasks within deadlines, and multitask. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Experience in handling confidential information. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively through email and/or telephone.
Estimated Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
