Benefits Department Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Benefits Department Assistant to join our team at South Shore Staffing in Braintree. As a Benefits Department Assistant, you will provide critical support to the Benefits Department, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review daily reports and follow up on open items as needed.
- Serve as back-up assistance with employee and administrator access to payroll and benefit enrollment systems.
- Respond to inbound telephone calls and redirect calls to the appropriate member of the Department as needed.
- File records in various files for active employees, retirees, etc.
- Assist with data entry and data scrubs.
- Assist with continuation of coverage process for health and dental plans.
- Monitor and document employee termination data.
- Audit supplemental life, vision, and FSA enrollments and deductions.
- Update records based on information from Human Resources.
- Provide administrative assistance with planning health fairs, vaccine clinics, and on-site wellness events.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is preferred but not required. Relevant work experience considered in lieu of college degree.
- One to two years of experience in a Human Resources and/or Benefits and/or Communications function preferred.
- Strong Microsoft skills, particularly in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with graphic design, website maintenance, and webinar programs a plus.
- Knowledge of payroll and benefits software a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance a plus.
- Ability to prioritize, work efficiently, complete tasks within deadlines, and multitask.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in handling confidential information.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively through email and/or telephone.
Compensation: The estimated salary for this position is around $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.
