Financial Manager

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is seeking a highly skilled Financial Officer - Pre-Award to join our team. As a key member of our financial administration team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pre-award financial research management of CSAIL's sponsored activities.
Job Summary:The Financial Officer - Pre-Award will advise principal investigators (PIs) and project leaders on all aspects of pre-award research administration, ensuring compliance with agency program announcement requirements and MIT's policies and procedures. This role will also coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of government/industrial/foundation/other organizational proposals.
Responsibilities:- Provide pre-award financial research management of CSAIL's sponsored activities
- Advise PIs and project leaders on pre-award research administration
- Coordinate proposal preparation, review, and submission
- Ensure compliance with agency program announcement requirements and MIT's policies and procedures
- Manage complex proposals and meet strict deadlines
- B.A./B.S. degree
- Five years' grants management experience in a nonprofit research administrative function
- Experience with financial management/forecasting and interpreting financial data
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internet search tools
- Knowledge of enterprise financial systems, proposal application/submission and grants management tools, and multidimensional databases
- Pre-award administration experience in a university/hospital/nonprofit
- Experience working with federal sponsors, including NSF, DoD, and NIH
- Knowledge of general accounting principles
