The Wireless Technologies and Ecosystems team is on the lookout for a dedicated individual with exceptional communication skills and profound technical expertise in cellular technologies.

This is a remarkable opportunity to collaborate with our hardware and wireless software engineering teams, driving the innovation and delivery of the most advanced Apple wireless devices and iOS software features to customers globally.

Role Overview:

In this position, you will influence the design of next-generation wireless architecture and systems/standards. You will have the chance to work with diverse technical teams to define future wireless and network features while guiding external infrastructure vendors and carriers toward full feature realization.

Your role will involve defining innovations and evaluating trade-offs across various aspects of the cellular protocol stack and network architecture.

This senior position requires you to effectively lead one or more research initiatives within a cross-functional framework involving multiple contributors. You will represent Apple's interests in forums and collaborative projects.

Most importantly, you will contribute to building intellectual property and engage in industry and academic research projects, influencing future standards set by organizations such as IEEE and 3GPP.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Extensive understanding of state-of-the-art (5G/A) cellular and non-cellular communication systems and technologies.
  • Over 10 years of experience in research and standards (3GPP, IEEE), with a primary focus on the network stack (layer 2+), RAN, and Core Network aspects.
  • Working knowledge of physical layer procedures.
  • Proven track record of introducing innovations to standards and products.
  • Familiarity with emerging wireless technology areas such as AI/ML, cloud-native solutions, edge computing, and semantic communications.
  • Experience in simulation and modeling relevant to contributions to organizations like 3GPP and IEEE.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, etc.
  • Exceptional collaborative, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:

Education in Electrical Engineering (EE) is preferred, with a Master's or Ph.D. in EE/CS.


Compensation and Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is just one component of our total compensation package, which is determined within a range. This allows for growth and development within your role. The base pay range for this position is between $135,400 and $250,600, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
