Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Customer Service Advocate to join our team at St. Luke's Hospital. As a key member of our Single Business Office, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and families, addressing billing questions and concerns, and ensuring a positive experience for all who interact with our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to incoming calls, emails, and written correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide clear and concise information to patients regarding billing issues and concerns.
  • Perform research and follow-up to resolve issues, and communicate with patients and staff as needed.
  • Utilize knowledge of vendor and technology systems to resolve customer concerns efficiently.
  • Update and correct patient information in our system, and communicate with staff and departments as necessary.
  • Provide extended customer service by coordinating with other departments to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of patient accounting billing, third-party payment methodologies, and financial assistance policies.
  • Exhibit sound judgment, obtain facts, examine options, gain support, and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Participate in the training and development of new team members, including direct side-by-side training.
  • Maintain all documentation and records in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year experience with third-party billing in a physician's office or hospital preferred.
  • Direct experience with PC, office equipment, typing, and clerical experience required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal, required.
  • Demonstrates diplomacy, tact, a positive approach, and the willingness to evaluate several sides of an issue.
  • Organizational skills and confidentiality are a must.
  • Works well with minimal supervision.
  • Problem solves, exhibits analytical ability, and is highly motivated.
