Precast Plant Manager Job Description

The Precast Plant Manager will oversee the entire precast plant, ensuring the production and delivery of products, employee oversight, asset management, risk management, and financial performance. This role is responsible for safety, quality, production, communication, reliability, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety of all employees and compliance with EHS, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Operations and Continuous Improvement: Oversee all areas of EHS programs, operations, and continuous improvement, implementing corporate initiatives.
  3. Leadership and Development: Establish goals, communicate expectations, and build a culture of accountability, commitment, and empowerment.
  4. Employee Development: Cultivate a climate for offering information and opinions, providing developmental opportunities.
  5. Performance Analysis: Identify and analyze KPIs to improve results.
  6. Production and Budgeting: Ensure production meets budget, develop action plans for operational efficiencies.
  7. Product Knowledge: Understand product specifications, ensuring products meet DOT, county, city, and agency requirements.
  8. Inventory Control: Oversee inventory control, including cycle counts, receiving, and good receipts.
  9. Team Management: Direct and coordinate activities of departments concerned with production, customer service, and distribution.
  10. Financial Review: Review financial statements, sales, and activity reports to measure productivity and goal achievement.
  11. Collaboration and Development: Collaborate with managers and peers to develop plans for resolution, develop and build teams.
  12. Recruitment and Selection: Recruit, select, orientate, train, coach, and counsel direct reports.
  13. Company Image: Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees.
  14. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Finance, Project Management, Human Resources, and Sales.
Requirements:
  • Education: HS Diploma or GED, Bachelor of Science, Engineering or Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 8+ years' experience in a managerial role in a precast manufacturing or construction environment.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Experience in applying LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S principles.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis and in groups.
  • Decision Making and Problem Solving: Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the Corporation.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literate, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) required, SAP experience a plus.
  • Business and Management Principles: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and production methods.
