Position Overview

Part-time Community Support Role

A gentleman residing in the North Syracuse area is seeking a Community Support Specialist to provide 6 hours of community habilitation assistance weekly. His hobbies include culinary activities, gardening, watching television, and reading. In this role, you will collaborate closely with him to enhance his independence in daily living activities, promote physical fitness, foster positive communication, and explore volunteer opportunities aligned with his interests.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

The preferred candidate will possess experience in support roles and exhibit a motivating, active, and friendly demeanor. Comfort with animals is essential, as there is a dog present in the household.


This is a part-time opportunity, with the potential for additional hours available with other individuals receiving services through the organization.


Work Schedule: Up to 18 hours per week, specifically on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM.


Compensation: The starting pay is $18.50 per hour, with potential increases based on relevant experience.


Location: North Syracuse, NY

Qualifications Required:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work independently in the client's home and/or community settings
  • Dependable with strong communication and organizational skills
  • No prior experience necessary, although experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred
  • New York State Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance are mandatory; a satisfactory driving record is required
  • Must have access to technology for downloading various applications for community use
