Green Dot Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Assistant to join our team. As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting students with special needs in a general education classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional support to students with special needs, including those with mild to moderate disabilities or other impairments.
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and section 504 service plans.
- Support students in operating assistive technology and communication devices.
- Administer first aid and provide physical assistance to students as needed.
- Assist with student supervision during transport and provide support with student behavior management.
- Perform various clerical tasks, such as typing, sorting, and filing.
- Prepare teaching aids and materials, including charts, graphs, and other related items.
- Assist in classroom organizing activities, such as displaying educational materials and preparing bulletin boards.
- Observe and report significant student behavior and implement behavior management programs as designated by certificated staff.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., special education, education, or a related field).
- At least two years of experience working with adolescents/children in a structured environment.
- Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds and pass a TB test and background check.
- Ability to work collaboratively as an educational team member.
- Competitive hourly rate range: $22.77 based on education.
