Psychiatric Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team at Lifespan Corporation. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Unit, you will provide direct care and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Professional Nurse to develop treatment plans and participate in the treatment planning process.
- Communicate individual treatment plans with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Implement treatment plans in accordance with unit policies and procedures, demonstrating the ability to set consistent and supportive therapeutic limits.
- Assist in the evaluation of care by providing input at team meetings.
- Document significant patient/family interactions on flowsheets in a timely manner.
- Observe patients in activities of daily living in accordance with the treatment plan.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and encourage their participation in recreational and other therapeutic activities.
- Model appropriate and therapeutic interpersonal staff/patient interactions to other patients/families.
- Conduct patient rounds to observe and record patients' behavior and report any unusual behavior to nursing staff.
- Initiate formal/informal supervision and incorporate feedback for improvement in job performance.
- Organize and participate in recreational activities and groups, demonstrating analytical skills and an understanding of psychiatric illnesses.
- Maintain cleanliness of the group room and report any safety hazards to the Charge Nurse.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patient/families and other members of the healthcare team.
- Manage aggressive/destructive behavior by providing timely therapeutic interventions.
- Baccalaureate in Psychology or related field or CNA license with experience working with the behavioral health population.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current Lifespan Crisis Management certification or current enrollment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span.
This position requires working in a general hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care. The ability to walk and be on feet for a minimum of 4 hours to perform continuous rounding safety checks on patients and the safety of the unit is essential.
