We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our cross-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and test of space vehicles. Your expertise will be crucial in driving the engineering lifecycle, from concept to delivery of fully mission-capable space vehicles to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage system requirements, interfaces, and verification/validation plans.
- Write complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports.
- Collaborate with program, functional, and subsystem leads to ensure seamless communication and interface definition.
- Support trade studies, system performance assessments, mission analysis, and timelines, as well as CONOPS development.
- Participate in engineering review boards and configuration control boards to ensure successful execution.
- Prepare review and briefing materials for working group meetings, reviews, and program status updates.
- Provide on-floor support for integration, testing, and operational readiness of spacecraft and payloads.
- Other tasks may include electrical harness interface design, integration, and test development and support, mechanical systems support, Command & Telemetry database development, and space vehicle configuration modeling.
- Systems Engineer 2: BS Engineering Degree and 2+ years of experience or Masters degree.
- Systems Engineer 3: BS Engineering Degree and 5+ years of experience or Masters degree and 3+ years of experience.
- Self-starter with strong technical problem-solving skills, aptitude for understanding system and subsystem interactions, and initiative to drive product development to closure.
- Previous engineering experience on space programs or satellite operations.
- Understanding of Systems Engineering functions.
- Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application.
- Experience in space systems, spacecraft design, or mission operations.
- Experience in requirements development, decomposition, and allocation.
- Understanding of spacecraft/space system integration & test, launch, and/or mission operations.
- Experience in requirements management, system architecture, and CONOPs development.
- Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS, and various analysis engineering tools, such as MATLAB.
- Experience in any of the following areas is also desired: orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, optics, communications, thermal design and analysis, or spacecraft integration and testing (either at the spacecraft or payload level).
