This position oversees the administration, technical, and research activities of MnDOT's pavement research program to ensure relevance and responsiveness to the Department's emerging needs. The role also manages activities at the MnROAD facility in Monticello, MN, and associated pooled fund projects with multiple state members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct research activities to enhance trust through transparency and accountability.
  • Manage a variety of functions, including research, program delivery, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement policies, rules, standards, and procedures.
  • Supervise staff and establish relationships with stakeholders and interest groups.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including resource allocation.
Requirements
  • Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • Five years of post-registration experience with three years at the Engineer Principal level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and maintain a strong team environment.
  • Experience with pavement design and construction techniques, soils and aggregates, construction materials and testing principles, and mechanized data gathering for pavement design purposes.
  • Experience integrating diverse transportation research.
