Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at Duke Regional Hospital. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

Responsibilities
  • Administer treatment and personal care procedures to patients, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothing, cleaning, and trimming fingernails, bed-making, assisting with ambulation, enemas, skin care, and bowel and bladder elimination.
  • Perform a variety of selected patient care tasks under the direction of an RN/LPN to assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment, and care of patients.
  • Retrieve and record patient data in electronic medical records (EMR) and report to the Nurse noting any new abnormal changes in the patient's condition.
  • Participate in the transport of patients.
  • Clean assigned area: stock and replenish supplies and equipment as required.
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks involved in operating the organization's patient care information system.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Listing on the Nurse Aid Registry of North Carolina or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor in North Carolina or certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in North Carolina or certification as a Behavioral Health Technician by The Academy of Addiction Professionals or the American Medical Certification Association.
  • BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
