Overview:


Under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse, this role involves assisting with routine and repetitive patient care tasks within a nursing unit. This position also entails specific clerical, organizational, and patient-centered responsibilities, with a focus on supportive activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Meets the expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Facilitates the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
Completes necessary documentation.
Prepares patient rooms for admissions by setting up IV equipment and adjusting beds to appropriate heights.
Ensures that all patient belongings accompany them during transfers or discharges.
Safely transports stable patients as required.
Maintains confidentiality and security while transporting patients and interacting with family members and visitors.
Responsible for cleaning, procuring, and returning equipment and supplies.
Runs errands for the nursing unit as needed.

Assists licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment at all times; replenishes patient rooms with water, linens, and towels as appropriate.

Performs unit-specific patient care tasks according to the skills checklist and documents on the flowsheet.

Identifies significant changes in a patient's condition and promptly reports these changes to the nurse in charge.

Assists with the ordering and maintenance of stock items in accordance with established inventory protocols when necessary.
Keeps unit supplies organized and orderly.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Communicates effectively with team members during and between shifts.
Responds to phone calls and patient call lights.

Adapts assigned patient assessments, treatments, and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.

Demonstrates the competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that aligns with the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.


Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in patient care within an acute care environment is preferred.
CNA License in the state of employment is required.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
