Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain adequate supplies in the outreach vehicle for daily service needs.
- Conduct regular inspections of the outreach vehicle to ensure operational safety and maintenance.
- Facilitate requests for specific items from community outreach recipients, coordinating with the Program Manager as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop daily outreach routes and coverage plans.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations during all outreach activities.
Outreach and Engagement:
- Establish connections with individuals experiencing homelessness to assess their needs and provide necessary resources.
- Offer information and referrals to local services, leveraging knowledge of community providers.
- Create a welcoming and respectful atmosphere during outreach efforts.
- Share personal experiences when appropriate to foster trust and connection with outreach recipients.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Assist the Program Manager in developing data tracking systems for documenting services provided.
- Utilize the Needs Form spreadsheet to identify and request necessary seasonal items for distribution.
- Prepare and submit reports detailing program activities and outcomes.
- Accurately use the HMIS system to track participant data and ensure its accuracy.
- Conduct housing eligibility evaluations as needed.
- Participate in housing staff meetings to advocate for clients.
Collaboration and Networking:
- Build partnerships with local shelters and service providers to facilitate smooth transitions for clients.
- Represent St. Vincent de Paul in interactions with local businesses and community members.
- Connect with other service providers to explore new outreach opportunities.
- Engage in community meetings to promote outreach efforts and share information about available services.
- Keep the Program Manager informed about relevant community events and meetings.
Volunteer Engagement:
- Utilize volunteer opportunities to educate others about the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Train volunteers in service preparation and distribution processes.
- Encourage volunteer participation and ensure they feel valued and included in the mission.
Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record. A current Food Handler's Certification is required due to daily food service responsibilities. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness is advantageous. Lived experience with homeless services is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is beneficial. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is preferred. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, team members, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
ADA Requirements:
Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying items up to 75 pounds regularly, and performing physical tasks such as bending and stretching.
Working Conditions:
This role involves working in various locations and conditions, including areas not designed for habitation and sites where individuals have established encampments.
