Job Summary

The Nutrition Outreach Coordinator position is a key role in providing nutrition and gardening education to families, individuals, and groups. This position will focus on developing and implementing gardening curriculum at community organizations, scheduling and facilitating gardening classes, and increasing nutrition outreach opportunities within the Honor Health Network and community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement gardening curriculum at Lincoln Learning Center, Desert Mission Food Bank, and other community organizations.
  • Schedule and facilitate gardening classes for community members, including weekly gardening Q&A sessions.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Desert Mission Community Garden Program.
  • Develop relationships with farmers, produce companies, farmers markets, and community gardens to increase donation of products.
  • Create and implement healthy food drives at donation sites.
  • Supervise volunteers assigned to the Desert Mission Food Bank garden.
  • Increase Nutrition Outreach opportunities within the Honor Health Network and community.
  • Promote Desert Mission programs during outreach events.
  • Promote SNAP (food stamps) during educational outreach.
  • Coordinate scheduled nutrition education outreach events within Honor Health and at community partner sites.
  • Select and present approved Nutrition Education curriculum and/or demonstrations to parents, families, or other community members.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with Honor Health departments and community partners to implement successful nutrition education programs.
  • Develop program event and marketing materials, including flyers, pamphlets, and recipes.
  • Compile information for invoices, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Document and report all activities, including individuals served, product utilization, educational materials distributed.
  • Document time and effort in an appropriate manner for grant purposes.
  • Attend all Arizona Nutrition Network (AZNN) partnership training and webinars.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nutrition or related field.
  • 1 year working in a role utilizing knowledge of diets/nutrition/gardening or related experience.
  • Comfortable with public speaking/speaking to large and small crowds.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent Human Relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Food Service Food Handlers Card within 7 business days of hire.
  • Current and valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card - State Current Arizona Dept. of Health Services Fingerprint Clearance Card.
