Job Summary:

As a Truck Driver Trainee at Freeport-McMoRan Inc., you will be responsible for performing inspections to maximize equipment and tire life, executing assignments from a computerized dispatch system, and receiving training and mentoring from experienced operators and supervisors. You will also be responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and potential hazards, as well as knowing procedures for start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident. Additionally, you will be responsible for having knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake. You will perform other duties as required.

Responsibilities:

Perform inspections to maximize equipment and tire life
Execute assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio
Receive training, mentoring, and feedback from other operators, supervisors, and equipment trainers
Understand changes to assigned work areas and potential hazards
Know procedures for start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident
Have knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake
Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude
The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $22.50/hour. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
