Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Medstar. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Assemble and package instrument trays, sets, and kits with 100% accuracy.
  • Wrap and handle packages according to standard procedures.
  • Inventory and validate containers and wrapped items to ensure proper preparation.
  • Consult with supervisors and team leaders as needed to resolve issues or concerns.
  • Contribute to the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Comply with governmental and accreditation standards.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, including suction machines, IV poles, and monitors.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of washers, decontaminators, and sterilizers.
  • Inspect and test sterilized items to ensure integrity and quality.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Less than 1 year 6 months related experience required or completion of central service technician course required.
  • Must prepare for certification as a Sterile Processing Technician within 1 year of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization techniques, and infection control requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills and basic computer skills.
