Job Overview

Hoxton Circle is collaborating with a prominent educational institution to fill a crucial Staff Accountant position. This role offers a unique opportunity for candidates seeking to enter the educational sector, even if they lack prior experience in this field. Initially, the position will be contract-based for approximately three months, with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance. During the temporary phase, medical benefits will be provided through Hoxton Circle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Accounts Receivable entries efficiently.
  • Verify and code General Ledger entries on Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Prepare and file Quarterly Sales and Use Tax returns and prepayments.
  • Submit DE542 to EDD on a semimonthly basis.
  • Handle the preparation and submission of FTB Form 592 and IRS Form 1042.
  • Conduct reconciliations for Accounts Payable, Sales Tax Liability, Travel Advances, and Gifts/Donations.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate accounting records while interpreting financial reports and statements.
  • Audit records and processes, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating financial audits and fiscal control procedures.
  • Provide senior-level support to ensure GAAP compliance and timely completion of assignments.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, or public administration is highly preferred.
  • A graduate degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional accounting experience is essential.
  • Experience in full-cycle accounting, including month-end processes.
  • Advanced understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, office procedures, and data presentation.
  • Expertise in governmental and/or non-profit accounting methods, laws, and regulations.
