Position:
  • Special Education - Functional Skills
As an integral part of our educational team, the Special Education Instructor will report directly to the Principal and will be responsible for delivering effective, high-quality instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. This role involves creating a supportive learning environment that encourages academic achievement and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialized instruction based on each student's Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to help students achieve their IEP goals.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive IEP plans that outline educational performance, special needs, and required services.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and child study team members to set instructional goals and strategies.
  • Coordinate the delivery of special education services as outlined in each student's IEP.
  • Design lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to the individual needs and interests of students.
  • Create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate for students.
  • Implement the educational philosophy and curriculum of North American Kitchen Solutions.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by educational regulations.
  • Support the administrative team in upholding school policies and regulations.
  • Be available for student and parent consultations outside of instructional hours when necessary.
  • Foster professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Active state licensure and certification in special education.
  • In-depth knowledge of special education principles and practices.
  • Experience working with children with behavioral and emotional challenges.
  • Dedication to serving educationally underserved populations.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
Preferred:
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Proven expertise in a specific content area.
  • Experience in urban educational settings.
