Join Our Team as a Peer Support Specialist-Psychiatric Emergency Services

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Peer Support Specialist-Psychiatric Emergency Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals in crisis.

About the Role

This part-time position requires 16 hours of work per week. You will contribute your lived experience, perspective, knowledge, and skills to the rehabilitative and recovery process. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate effective system navigation, empowerment, hope, resiliency, voice, and choice for our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered services that promote self-directed recovery and support self-advocacy and empowerment.
  • Develop and implement interventions that emphasize safety, self-worth, growth, connection to community, planning, and social supports.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Certificate of successful completion of Nebraska approved Peer Support Core Curriculum Training required.
  • Self-identifies as having lived experience as an individual with a mental health/substance use disorder or as a parent/care-giver to a child with a mental health/substance use disorder required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated successful full or part-time, paid or voluntary work experience within the past 12 months preferred.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • Certified Peer Support Wellness Specialist (CPSWS) or Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in accordance with the certification described by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health preferred.
