SUMMARY
Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency is seeking a Radiologic Imaging Specialist to join our Radiology team. This part-time position will involve evening shifts with rotating holidays and on-call responsibilities.
A sign-on bonus may be available for qualified external candidates.
Under the supervision of the area manager or lead technologist, the specialist will conduct imaging examinations and provide patient care to ensure high-quality radiographic results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts general radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations as required.
- Prepares examination rooms adequately for procedures.
- Reviews and confirms examination requests to ensure accuracy in patient and procedure matching.
- Engages with patients and assesses available clinical information to identify potential contraindications for procedures.
- Ensures that patients receive consistent care comparable to that provided in their respective units.
- Communicates examination procedures to patients and their families.
- Prepares and administers oral and/or IV contrast in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Demonstrates proper anatomical positioning and exposure factors relevant to specific examinations.
- Adheres to the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle.
- Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the implications of various disease processes.
- Evaluates imaging results, distinguishes between normal and abnormal anatomy, and alerts the appropriate radiologist as necessary.
- Consistently performs quality examinations and ensures adherence to departmental protocols.
- Utilizes the image management system for acquiring, formatting, manipulating, archiving, and printing images.
- Accurately documents the total number of images captured and the reasons for any repeat radiographs.
- Assists physicians and residents during radiology examinations and procedures.
- Utilizes the electronic health record system for orders, scheduling, documentation, and billing.
- Implements manual procedures during system downtimes.
- Instructs new staff and students in imaging techniques and procedures.
- Evaluates and completes competency assessments for students, providing ongoing feedback to the Student Coordinator.
- Contributes to the education and training of medical staff, including Radiology Residents and Fellows.
- Maintains equipment and examination rooms in optimal working condition, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Demonstrates responsible use of equipment and reports incidents involving equipment usage.
- Performs various administrative tasks as needed.
- Conducts quality control procedures.
- Promotes a healthy work environment and effective teamwork, suggesting improvements as necessary.
- Assists in organizing workflow by utilizing available staff and resources.
- Participates in departmental continuing education initiatives.
- Provides peer feedback for performance evaluations.
- Completes additional tasks and projects as assigned.
- Follows organizational policies regarding the handling and securing of medications.
QUALIFICATIONS - Radiologic Imaging Specialist
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Maintains the minimum continuing education units (CEUs) as required by the ARRT.
- Possesses current CPR certification or is able to obtain it within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Confidence in performing duties.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
