Hord Family Farms is a leading producer of high-quality pork products, renowned for our commitment to animal care and welfare. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our production team as a Pig Production Specialist - Animal Care and Welfare.

Job Summary:

This entry-level position is responsible for the daily care and well-being of mother pigs and piglets, ensuring optimal productivity and animal health. The successful candidate will work in a climate-controlled environment, assisting with animal care, facility maintenance, and light repair tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care and attention to mother pigs and piglets, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health and well-being.
  • Assist with animal husbandry tasks, such as vaccinations, weighing, and monitoring animal behavior.
  • Perform light facility maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to achieve optimal animal health and productivity.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills in animal care and welfare.

Requirements:

  • No prior experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with regular lifting, bending, and standing.
  • High level of respect for team members and animals, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Impeccable record of reliability and dependability, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and commitments.
  • Willingness to work every third weekend, with a day off during the week each time.
