Job Overview

Baltimore Country Club is in search of a skilled Irrigation Technician who demonstrates leadership and initiative in managing irrigation and pumping systems. This role involves overseeing the winterization and start-up processes at the beginning of the season. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with course Superintendents and the Director of Horticulture to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally on a daily basis. This is a full-time position that may require overtime, including weekends, snow removal, and holiday work during peak seasons.

Responsibilities

The Irrigation Technician will be responsible for:

  • Maintenance and repair of irrigation piping systems, sprinkler heads, and Toro VP satellites with Lynx Central controller.
  • Supervising the upkeep and repairs of water transfer and pumping systems.
  • Utilizing electrical troubleshooting skills and maintaining Precision Turf Fans.
  • Managing inventory and purchasing duties effectively.
  • Leading a small team during the installation of new irrigation projects.

The current irrigation systems include 21 holes installed in 2006 and 15 holes from 1990, alongside two Watertronics stations installed in 2006 and 2018. Future projects include the Short Game Practice Facility and the East Course Project, which aims to restore the original design by A.W. Tillinghast from 1924. The Irrigation Technician will play a crucial role in these upcoming initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in servicing and maintaining irrigation systems.
  • A willingness to expand their knowledge and skill set.
  • Familiarity with Toro golf course electric control systems and Watertronics pump stations is preferred.
