Job Title: Coding Specialist

Under the supervision of a senior coding specialist, the coding specialist will be responsible for performing all collection functions on account balances within assigned financial classes.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with front-desk staff to ensure accurate patient registration in the practice management system.
  • Review physician charges and add modifiers or other standard coding conventions to ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Create and submit clean claims for billing by reviewing and correcting claim errors in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Review and work open encounter and inpatient note reconciliation report.
  • Provide financial counseling to patients, set-up and approves self-payment plans in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Function as the practice liaison with the Central billing Office and assists in educating the practice staff about efficient and compliant billing and registration practices.
  • Provide assistance to providers on correct CPT and ICD 10 coding.
Requirements:
  • Active AAPC certification required.
  • Additional coding certifications applicable to physician practice billing preferred.
  • One year of direct billing or collections experience required in a healthcare or insurance environment.
  • Completion of medical billing and coding course and coding certification required.
  • 1 year of CPT and ICD10 coding experience.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of collection procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
  • Skill in written and oral communications.
  • Skill in performing arithmetic calculations.

Pay Range: $23.53 - $38.57
