About This Role

The Department of Applied Human Sciences at Kansas State University is seeking a highly skilled Project Director III for the 4-H Military Partnership Project. This position will collaborate with USDA program leaders and Military Services child and youth program staff to support Land Grant Universities in providing 4-H clubs and programs for military-connected youth.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing grant proposals and budgets
  • Managing the request for applications (RFA) process for sub-awards to Land Grant Universities
  • Collaborating with Extension 4-H Military Liaisons at participating Land Grant Universities
  • Providing supervision of project staff
  • Supporting the scholarly development of the curriculum
  • Coordinating professional development opportunities for military child and youth program staff and Extension 4-H staff
  • Managing evaluation and reporting for all aspects of the project
  • Facilitating special projects for the military in collaboration with university faculty in other disciplines

The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments, the Center on Aging, Physician Assistant program, and a Nursing partnership with Wichita State University. The College enrolls over 2,300 undergraduate and 400 graduate students and employs over 115 full-time faculty members in teaching, research, and Extension positions.


Worksite Option

This position is eligible for remote worksite. Work is performed fully in a remote capacity. An employee who is working remotely must reside within the United States in order to comply with all federal and state laws, filings, or tax requirements. Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel is required for attendance at national meetings, trainings, and conferences.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in family science, human development, youth development, family and consumer sciences, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in managing projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in family science, human development, youth development, family and consumer sciences, or a related field
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills supporting effective interaction with stakeholders and Extension faculty
  • Demonstrated competence in grant proposal development and grant management
  • General knowledge of the Cooperative Extension System and 4-H youth development
  • Experience with the Cooperative Extension System and 4-H youth development
  • General knowledge of military culture and military child and youth programs

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range
