Unit Description

Nurses in our 5North unit, a 64-bed Cardiac Telemetry and Progressive Care Unit, provide care for patients requiring coronary observation, medical telemetry, and step-down services.

This dynamic and supportive environment offers nurses opportunities for ongoing education and new challenges in innovative cardiology care.


Key Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in Cardiac Telemetry, you will be responsible for:
  • Applying the nursing process and delivering patient care tailored to the specialty population.
  • Providing comprehensive direct and indirect patient care services to ensure safety, comfort, hygiene, and protection in a timely manner.
  • Educating patients on disease prevention and restorative measures.
  • Administering medications and therapeutic agents essential for treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Performing skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiating peripheral venous access.
  • Observing and assessing signs and symptoms of illness, medication reactions, and overall physical condition to identify normal versus abnormal characteristics and initiate emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Planning and implementing individualized patient care based on thorough observations.
  • Implementing appropriate reporting, referrals, and care in accordance with standardized procedures while catering to diverse patient populations.
  • Identifying patients' readiness for learning and their ability to follow instructions, while also assessing safety concerns related to age and development.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and the ability to make necessary adjustments to meet the specific needs of various populations, including cultural, spiritual, age-related, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, educational, family, and health condition needs.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN or higher preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
  • Current California State RN License required.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Specialty Certification (external applicants may acquire within one year of hire).

Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years recent acute RN experience in the specialty.
  • Note: A minimum of 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II.

Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues.

Meets clinical criteria and protocol for the assigned Clinical Nurse level.
