Family Support Specialist (Early Intervention)

About Play is eager to welcome a Family Support Specialist (Early Interventionist) for Charleston, Berkley, and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. We are looking for dynamic, creative, and motivated individuals who possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Preferred qualifications include prior experience in early intervention, teaching, or early childhood development, or recent graduates with a degree in a related field who are open to on-the-job training.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Family & Consumer Science, or a related field, along with 1 year of documented experience working with children from birth to six years. Prior experience in early intervention is preferred.

OR

A Bachelor's Degree in ANY field combined with 5 years of documented experience with infants, toddlers, or children aged birth to 5 years with disabilities. Please ensure all relevant work experience is included in your resume.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver family-centered early intervention services to families with infants and toddlers facing developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Conduct Family Training sessions with caregivers and children in their home, daycare, or natural settings.
  • Provide education, training, and support to families regarding child development, parenting, and family dynamics.
  • Design and implement strategies to foster the child's development.
  • Track and assess the progress of the child and family.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Starting at $40,000 annually, with travel mileage reimbursement at .45 per mile, up to a $565 monthly cap. With mileage reimbursement, total compensation could reach up to $46,780 annually.

Location: Candidates must reside in the specified counties and surrounding areas in South Carolina.

Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
Experience:
  • 1 year (Preferred) - Prior experience in early intervention, teaching, or early childhood development is preferred, or recent graduates with a degree in a related field and a willingness to undergo on-the-job training.
License/Certification:
  • Driver's License (Required) & Reliable Vehicle
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (Heartsaver, Infant & Child) (Preferred)
Willingness to travel:
  • 50-75% (Preferred)
