Job Title: Lab Automation Specialist

Alsym Energy is seeking a highly skilled Lab Automation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation systems for high-throughput material evaluation and testing processes specific to battery research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop automation systems for high-throughput material testing and evaluation processes.
  • Collaborate with research scientists and engineers to understand experimental workflows and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop and maintain software and control systems for automated laboratory equipment, ensuring integration with our data management systems.
  • Train research staff on the operation of automated systems and provide ongoing support and troubleshooting.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in lab automation technology and high-throughput experimentation methods, evaluating new tools and technologies for potential implementation.
  • Work closely with the IT and data science teams to ensure seamless data capture, management, and analysis from automated experiments.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and SOPs for high-throughput experimentation and lab automation.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum of two years of industry experience in designing and deploying automation solutions in research or laboratory environments, preferably within the chemistry or battery research fields.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for automation and robotics control, such as Python and LabVIEW.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-throughput experimentation techniques and equipment relevant to chemistry and battery testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and integration with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Knowledge of material science or battery technology is a significant plus.
  • Prior experience in a research and development setting, particularly in the energy storage or materials science fields.
