Position Overview:

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program or an approved LVN training course.
  • Active nursing license in good standing with the relevant State board.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to provide high-quality patient care in line with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Aptitude for identifying and reporting issues, exercising initiative, and making sound decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of nursing principles and practices to uphold quality care standards for residents.
  • Willingness to collaborate with both professional and non-professional staff. Proficiency in English is required; bilingual in Chinese is preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Deliver nursing care as directed by healthcare professionals, adhering to legal practice scopes and established care standards.
  • Administer services that support residents in achieving or maintaining their optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being, while providing clinical data to inform care plans.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of residents according to established protocols.
  • Orient new residents and their families as necessary.
  • Exchange nursing reports at the start and end of shifts, reviewing patient assignments with Nursing Assistants.
  • Ensure the unit is clean and safe for resident comfort.
  • Conduct daily rounds to assess residents' physical and emotional conditions.
  • Collect and report significant clinical findings as per policy.
  • Perform nursing skills within the scope of practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Document care information accurately and promptly, ensuring all required records are completed in accordance with policy.
  • Assist in developing and updating resident care plans, evaluating progress towards goals.
  • Receive and accurately transcribe physician orders.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Maintain security and accurate documentation of controlled substances.
  • Order medications and supplies as per facility policies.
  • Notify physicians and guardians of significant changes in resident conditions.
  • Participate in facility meetings and report any allegations of abuse or unusual occurrences.
  • Initiate emergency procedures and participate in infection control programs.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff members and assume charge responsibilities as required.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Conduct rounds to ensure appropriate care is provided and make necessary corrections.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to identify and address care improvement areas.
  • Support the Charge Nurse in managing nursing assignments.

Consumer Service:

  • Present a professional image through conduct and communication.
  • Respectfully address resident and family concerns, documenting grievances as per policy.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Engage in quality assurance programs and assist in addressing findings from health department reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding health information protection.
  • Participate in ongoing education to maintain nursing competencies.
