Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a skilled Coding Educator to join our Mid Revenue Cycle team. As a Coding Educator, you will be responsible for providing coding and charging related education and training to providers, nurses, Revenue Integrity, and Health Information Management staff.
Key Responsibilities- Design, create, and implement educational and training curriculum to initiate new processes resulting from initiatives, coding-related projects, and general coding-related matters driven by business needs.
- Conduct monthly audits and quality reviews for providers, nurses, and Revenue Integrity and Health Information Management staff to identify compliance opportunities with clinical documentation and coding and charging guidelines.
- Complete projects assigned by the Mid Revenue Cycle Sr Coding Educator aimed to review and improve the quality of the clinical documentation in the patient record and final coding for both professional and technical billing.
- Document the new hire progress for the Mid Revenue Cycle Sr Coding Educator sign-off at the end of the 90-day introductory period.
- Associate's degree and four (4) years of outpatient and/or professional practice coding experience.
- Any one of the following certifications is required: CPC-H, CCS, CPMA, CPC, COC, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA.
- Experience with automated patient care and coding systems, including Cerner Electronic Health Record, Cerner products Radnet and Surginet, Capstone, OPTUM Enterprise Computer Assisted Coding, and encoder.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD10CM, ICD10PCS, HCPCS, AHA coding clinic guidelines, MSDRG, APRDRG, CMS guidelines, NCHS, Radiation Oncology Coding Guidance, and AHIMA and AAPC code of ethics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competence with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Zoom, and Outlook).
