Position Overview

The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Department Head or General Manager. This role primarily involves overseeing daily operational functions and managing team members in their respective duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs and professional development opportunities. The aim is to ensure guest satisfaction and the smooth operation of the hotel by supervising various departments during the absence of the General Manager or Manager on Duty. This individual will assist in driving hotel profitability through effective revenue management, cost control, guest satisfaction, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Rooms or Food & Beverage departments within a hotel setting; or a 4-year degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience; or a 2-year degree with 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Prior supervisory experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems is required.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate and select among various courses of action.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt to meet specific needs.
  • Effective communication skills to listen, understand, clarify, and resolve concerns raised by guests and team members.
  • Basic understanding of financial information and arithmetic functions.
  • Clear and effective conveyance of information and ideas.

Core Duties:

  • Engage with guests and employees in a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance as per the hotel's scheduling requirements.
  • Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, adhering to the hotel's dress code.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
  • Fulfill certification requirements pertinent to the position, including Food Handlers and Alcohol Awareness.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, oversee the efficient operation of the hotel, particularly in Engineering and Housekeeping departments.
  • Encourage an environment where employees feel empowered to make decisions that enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports as required, meeting all deadlines.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty coverage as scheduled.
  • Facilitate training in service standards across departments.
  • Support the General Manager in recruiting, hiring, and training staff based on occupancy needs.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere focused on guest satisfaction through employee development.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning Programs.
  • Ensure all employees provide attentive, friendly, and efficient service to guests and colleagues.
  • Familiarize yourself with Standard Operating Procedures across all operational departments.
  • Maintain professional relationships and open communication with management and staff.
  • Ensure fair treatment of all employees in accordance with company policies.
  • Complete required corporate training modules and become certified to train others as necessary.
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests and offer assistance.
  • Adhere to procedures for the handling of hotel safes, ensuring security protocols are followed.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings that occur on the property.
