Position Summary:

The Cage Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all cash handling operations and ensuring the security of financial assets. This role involves establishing credit and check cashing accounts for patrons, issuing cashier banks, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures, and regulations set forth by the relevant authorities. Responsibilities may encompass interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints; and resolving issues for both guests and employees. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary, with an emphasis on meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring the accuracy of jackpot payouts and the safekeeping of deposits and withdrawals.
  • Monitor cash levels across all Cage locations.
  • Supervise large payouts conducted by cashiers.
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Document attendance and variances, collaborating with other Cage Supervisors or the Cage/Count Manager to review employee files and prepare corrective action documentation.
  • Complete daily cash accountability logs, provide performance feedback, and handle employee disciplinary actions.
  • Prepare cashier transfers and ensure accurate paperwork is completed for all functions, including end-of-shift balancing of cashier windows and the cage.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance of Cage equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all wagering operations data.
  • Inform the Cage/Count Manager of any incidents or disputes involving patrons, employees, or inter-departmental matters.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Availability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior cash handling experience is mandatory.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in bank teller or cage operations.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

Technical Skills:

Intermediate computer skills are required, including proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with coin and currency counters, as well as traditional office equipment, is also necessary.

Work Environment:

The work environment is characterized by moderate noise levels, and candidates must be able to work all shifts in a fast-paced and demanding atmosphere.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods. The role requires ascending and descending stairs, as well as excellent dexterity for handling cash and vouchers. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs and possess strong vision skills.
