We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Engineer to join our team at Applied Research Associates (ARA). As a key member of our Algorithms, Modeling and Assessments (AMA) division, you will work closely with engineers, curricula developers, and safety specialists to update and modernize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in environmental regulations, hazardous materials, and waste management and disposal. Prior military experience is a plus, and the successful candidate will be eligible for a Department of Defense Secret, or higher, level security clearance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate overall design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety of systems and procedures.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems and provide project engineering/program management support.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers, curricula developers, and safety specialists to update and modernize SOPs and training procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations associated with hazardous materials and waste management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) degree in Engineering and 0-2 years of relevant experience, or no degree with 6-8 years of related experience.
  • Strong analytic, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with hazardous materials and waste management.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior military experience.
  • Existing Security Clearance.
  • Experience with energetic materials, including explosives and propellants.
  • Professional Engineers license.
